My poor baby had to have his tear ducts probed this week. It is a minor procedure and didn't take long, but this momma was a wreck! He couldn't eat after 7am and couldn't have anything to drink after 11. By time we got to the hospital, he was tired and cranky, I was tired and cranky, Daddy was tired and cranky. He changed into his adorable scrubs and then wanted to walk. Everywhere. He flirted with the nurses, entered people's rooms, generally ran the place. He rode around the floor in a police car, which entertained everyone.
The hardest part was when they took him from me to take him to the OR. He screamed and I cried. Travis took it pretty hard but put on the brave face that most guys have.
The procedure was really quick and they took us to post op before he was awake so that he could wake up with us. He looked miserable. Bloody tears and bloody nose. He was moaning and crying in his "sleep". After about a half hour, we went back to our recovery room and he drank a little. Of course, as we were getting ready to walk out, Kenny threw up. All. OVER. ME. He was covered, so they let him wear his scrubs home.
He ended up having a pretty rough night. Everything he drank made him sick. Apparently, that is normal and anesthesia just effects some people harder than other. He didn't end up really eating or drinking anything until 11 the next day.
I am glad we had the procedure done, considering both of his ducts were blocked and this will hopefully help prevent some future infections. Man was it hard seeing the after effects though!
I feel for any parent that had to deal with major or multiple surgeries. Hopefully this is the only time he will have to be put under!!!
He did look really darn cute in his scrubs though!
