It doesn't seem that long ago that I was writing my recap of 2009. It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. The end of 2010 has been really rough on Travis and me, but looking back over the past year has helped me remember the great things that have happened this year. So here we go.....
January
What a great way to ring in the new year than at the Happiest Place on Earth. We saw an amazing firework display and spent the rest of the week in sunny (but not warm) Orlando Florida. We went to the Bucs/Falcons game (which the Bucs lost) and The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. We spent a day walking along the beach and visited Kennedy Space Center. It was great to spend time alone with my new Hubby!
February
February threw a wrench in our plans. I blame Jayme's hurricanes at Mardi Gras! For those of you that have never tried a JB Hurricane, they are deadly. They catch up to you all at once! I love Mardi Gras! It is one of my favorite days of the year. I love the crowds and the people! I love spending the day with some of my greatest friends! I love the excessive drinking! That is, until you are spending Mardi Gras evening at MoBap because your husband had a few too many hurricanes and shots of Jack Daniels and tripped and fell and dislocated his elbow! It was crazy!!! He was more or less ok, but was out of work for a few weeks and had to do physical therapy! I told him that this Mardi Gras he is sticking to water!!!!
March
In March, my newest best boy made his appearance! Charlie was born! He spent some tine in the NICU after having surgery the morning after he was born. I spent some time taking care of his 4 big brothers and we went on out customary "new baby" trip to Forest Park. Every time a new sibling has been born, the older Sutphin siblings and I go to the Zoo. This year it was cold and rainy so we went to the Science Center! Charlie was born with a lot of people that love him and it has been amazing to watch another Sutphin boy grow!
April
In April, I made a big change and donated 14 inches of hair to Lock of Love. We had a fundraising skate party for my upcoming 10 year reunion. It was GREAT to catch up with old friends! Most of these people I hadn't seen since we graduated. Most of them are still the same. I didn't realize how much I missed some of those people until I saw them again! We also went to Sacremento, KY for the first reenactment of the season. Yes it is dorky, but I have a lot of fun doing it!
May
May started out with my 28th birthday. We went to my favorite place- Fast Eddie's! I could spend every weekend there! It was great to get newer friends together with my older friends and my best girls! From what I can remember it was a great night.
May also started out journey into fertility testing and treatment. I had an HSG done and the results were normal. A follow up with Dr. Jewell and he recommended starting Clomid. It was a little scary but letting it happen naturally just wasn't working! May also had a great Memorial Day weekend! First water play of the year!
June
I started taking Clomid in June and boy did the side effects suck! I was moody and weepy and just a big bag of emotions. It also wrecked my skin. But I know that the end result will be worth it! I also did the Race for the Cure! It was my Aunt Anne's 5th year survivor race! I am so proud of Annie and admire her strength! She has been so brave during this whole fight and was not going to let cancer get the best of her!
July
A second round of Clomid. The fourth of July! I love fireworks! Trav's band, "Impassible During High Water" played the town fireworks. It was so much fun! I love seeing Trav do what he loves! The month ended with the Olson Family Float trip! This is the best group of people and we have so much fun! I can't wait for the next one!!!!
(The fireball below is part of the firework show! Makes me think of the Wizard of Oz.."Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!")
August
I signed up for my first 5K. I was set to run the Jingle Bell Run on November 21st. I started training hard. It was going great. I was feeling so much better about myself. I felt healthier and that was something I hadn't really felt in a long time. Then I became the happiest person on earth. I found out I was pregnant. The 2 lines were there. We told our parents and I told Bridget (only cause I was scared and had some questions) and that was it. We wanted to wait until I had seen the doctor and all of that. I set up an appointment. We figured out the due date (May 1st). Then the unthinkable happened. On August 28th I lost the baby. I was in a downward spiral. But I have some really great and amazing people in my life (some of whom have been through this) and they pulled me up. I didn't think I would want to spend time with friends that same weekend, but it was the best thing for me. They let me cry. They let me drink. They let me be sad but not blame myself. They talked me through it all and I love them all for it! It is still raw and I still hurt but I know I have my friends and family to comfort and console me through any challenge.
September
I was determined to make September a better month. I didn't want to live life with the "if onlys" and "what ifs". We were going to move forward and the only way to do that is to live life. My good friends Erin and Stan welcomed there first child, Lucas James, on 9-02-10. I am so happy for them and he is adorable!!!! September also held my 10 year class reunion. I had seen a lot of old friends at the skate party a few months earlier, but it was great to spend the reunion weekend with my high school friends. We had Friday night at the Black Label and then a Masquerade Ball on Saturday. Sunday was a bbq at Spanish Lake. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait for the next one!
We also went to Pilot Knob, MO for a reenactment. This is one of my favorite events and it takes place on the real battlefield!
October
October dealt us another devastating blow. I found out that I was pregnant again. It had happened within a week or two of the miscarriage in August. My dr and I didn't think I could get pregnant without the Clomid and since I hadn't taken it yet, we didn't think there was a risk. We were wrong. However, there was no chance for excitement and celebration with this pregnancy because from the time that we found out I was pregnant we knew that the pregnancy would not continue. My progesterone level was so low it was practically zero. WE prepared for the worst and the weekly blood draws began. I lost the baby on October 19th. It took a few days off from work and Trav and I spent that time comforting each other and thinking about the future. It was hard but we got each other through it.
Travis and I had decided in August that we needed a chance to heal and have some fun so we decided to go back to Florida to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The Bucs were playing the Rams in Tampa and it was just perfect. The Bucs won! Leslie came down from Georgia to spend some time with us. We went to the Food and Wine festival at Epcot and now I want to go back every year. We visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. We went to the beach and had an amazing day there. We finished the trip at Magic Kingdom and it was awesome to see the park decorated for Halloween (my favorite holiday!) It was exactly what we both needed!!!!
November
I ran my first 5K. It wasn't the greatest time but in reality I only had 19 days to train. I wasn't able to run during October because of the miscarriage (for a while there was a fear it was ectopic) and wasn't cleared to run again until Nov 2nd. I pushed myself and it felt amazing!!!!!! I had a great running team. Travis' cousin Jake and his wife Amy ran the race with me. They both did fantastic!!!! I am really proud of all of us!
November also brough 2 more babies into the mix, on the same day. Mason Alexander was born to my good friend Christine and Rick and joins big brother Jacob. He is frickin adorable and I love his cheeks. My brother in law and his wife welcomed Savannah Leigh a day earlier than expected. She is beautiful and I am excited to have another niece. I am so happy for both families
This brings us to December
December was filled with time with family and friends. We had Christmas parties and Christmas dinners, baby showers, gifts, cookies, an abundance of family and friends.
This year has been difficult but I think it is the difficult ones that help us grow. Every event shapes us. It is important to remember the good and the bad and spend time with the ones you love. Family and friends are important and every person you know touches you in some way. I am so thankful for the people that I have in my life. I love you all! Have a Happy and Safe New Year's Eve and hears looking forward to 2011!
Join us on our Wunderful journey through life. Travis is a hardworking River Rat and I am new to this Stay at Home mom gig.

This is where I admit that I am a dork.
The best part of our anniversary vacation (besides spendind time with my hubby, of course) was seeing The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
Butterbeer is amazing!!!!
I might be slightly obsessed with these wizards. I love the books and enjoy the movies.
I might have gotten my husband a little obsessed too. He was pretty frickin excited.
It was a lot of fun!
